Unoccupied Africa

Who are you really; what were you before?

Senegal, Nigeria, Kenya or Ghana? Sudan, Congo, Uganda, Egypt, Zimbabwe or South Africa could have also made the list. Africa is beckoning as usual and I give thanks to the ancestors for sending Birane Diouf.

A universal, Afrikan-centered vision exists among us and it is, against tremendous odds, guiding us through our re-unification process. The struggle is hard and excruciatingly painful at times but many millions of us, at every given moment, are filled with tremendous happiness, enjoying and extending the cycles of life. We must find ways of sharing that energy for it adds vital nourishment which is critical in order to sustain our long-term collective efforts. Patience is indeed a virtue, the very one which I am now earnestly conjuring.

How can we best live in our Sun and what does it truly mean to be a (minor) part of a (major) Solar system?

Farming in Africa will help to make me a happy man and yet Jamaica remains an uncleared hurdle...or does it? We are here in South Western Saint Catherine (Aubyn) where the sun is plentiful and the land flat and fertile. There are springs and rivers aplenty in this parish
but the water distribution system needs significant improvement. Across the road there is a 40-something acre cotton farm which is fertilized with well water. However the water pressure in our home is very very low. If not for the tank, living here would have been much more of a challenge. Of course, it has cost us in electricity bills as the tank requires a pump to do its job. The feasibility of a different placement of the pump and/or Solarising of the home should be calculated. No, Jamaica is simply part of one Eastern route to West Afrika and since development is uneven we must remain flexible in our approaches.
